For the altar of María Reina Church, designed by Félix Llanos and built in 1977, the Tibetan rug designed by the Basque painter Juan Luis Goenaga was chosen. The church is of Rationalist style, with some more organic elements. This rug was woven to decorate the wall of the apse, since the congregation considered this space to be too empty, and cold. To avoid this sensation, Edorta Kortadi, purchased this rug when he was the Parish priest in 2007. Although the original painting resembles a cave painting, some churchgoers saw in this rug “The Creation”.
