Kilim from the Selendi region, Turkey. This vintage kilim was handwoven by a nomadic or village woman, using her own hand-spun and carded wool. This kilim was woven around the city of Selendi, in the Aegean region. Selendi kilims usually incorporate band designs with additional decoration in the cicim technique with geometric motifs. In this case, the weaver has finished off the kilim with two edges at each end, something that is not usual in kilims in this area. The fringes are original and intact. The wool is very finely spun and is of the best quality.
