Carpet from the Qashqai tribe of southern Iran. This vintage rug was hand-woven by a nomadic or village woman, using her own hand-spun and carded wool.
The design of this rug is similar to that of a kilim rather than a rug. Among the hexagons that occupy the central field, the weaver has filled the background with unusual patterns distributed in a totally random way. The border is also not symmetrical. The wool is soft and silky.
