Kilim from the Qashqai tribe of southern Iran. This vintage kilim was handwoven by a nomadic or village woman, using her own hand-spun and carded wool.
This kilim is a piece full of improvisations and very free in design, so it seems to have movement. The colour changes within one tone, called “abrash”, are very pretty and add depth to the piece. All the colours are achieved with natural dyes.
