An interesting vintage palas kilim with a tartan like pattern. The pattern is created by the different colours of the warp and weft, the warp being of undyed natural wool and the weft of colour. When the cross, they create different horizontal and vertical lines. The kilim is decorated with some pompoms in the outer border.

This kilim is a “palas”, a type of kilim woven to be used as a basis for domestic activities within the nomadic community (drying vegetables, making cheese, etc.). This vintage kilim was hand-woven by a nomadic or village woman, using her own wool spun and carded by hand.
