This extraordinary Baluch rug features a captivating scene of a camel caravan, led by a Baluch woman dressed in her finest attire. The camels are adorned with intricate tribal regalia, including beautifully woven saddlebags, blankets, and neck and snout decorations. The landscape depicted is simply breathtaking, with a deep blue starry night sky, birds, trees, and mountains at the feet of the camels, while lush plants add to the richness of the scene. At the end of their long journey, a village or cluster of buildings awaits. On the right side of the rug, next to the woman, a smaller rug is woven into the design (a rug within a rug!).
The border contrasts with the more organic design, featuring geometric patterns and formal motifs, yet still showcasing a profusion of vibrant flowers.
The wool is exceptionally soft and has a natural sheen, adding to the overall luxurious feel of the piece.
This rug is a true gem of ethnographic interest, capturing the essence of Baluch culture in every detail.
