A fantastic vintage Baluch rug with an unusually large pattern of three huge medallions. The main field has wonderful colour changes (called abrash) that change from black to grey, adding depth to the rug. The border is full of tribal improvisations, with each eight point star being different. Very thick pile, soft and shinny wool and original plaited fringes, all in mint condition.
Material: 100% hand-spun sheep wool
Size: 238×118 cms
Origin: Baluch tribe, Afghanistan
Date of weaving: 1970s
