Uzbek rug from Afghanistan, 291x240 cms

Rug woven by ethnic Uzbek women from northern Afghanistan. Such a square size is very difficult to find on vintage and antique rugs. The rug has a soft, densely woven pile and a beautiful contrast between the very well calculated and executed border against the central field which is surprising, with two large columns of “güls” in the center of the field, the symmetry of which is broken by introducing three “güls” smaller at both ends.
