A particular type of silk cloth, known as Donato, was made in Aleppo in the nineteenth century. The name derives from the Italian merchant who organized for its manufacture in the city. These patterned fabrics were used for covering cushions and furniture.
This textile has been finely woven using silk and metal thread.
