A simple 1960s palas kilim from the Qashqai nomad´s from Iran. This very neat and minimalist kilim is plain except for the orange border and a couple of decorative beads, one of them in blue colour as protection against the evil eye.

This kilim is a “palas”, a type of kilim woven to be used as a basis for domestic activities within the nomadic community (drying vegetables, making cheese, etc.). This vintage kilim was hand-woven by a nomadic or village woman, using her own wool spun and carded by hand.
