This semi-antique Luri rug is a true gem, crafted with exceptionally soft and shiny wool. All the dyes used in this piece are 100% natural, giving it a rich and authentic character. The wool comes entirely from sheep, except for the warp, which, as seen in the fringes, is made of goat’s wool, adding durability and texture.

Unique Design & Motifs

The rug features a striking three-medallion design, with each medallion interlocked to create a visually dynamic composition. At the center of each medallion lies a lozenge, divided into four sections and adorned with a harlequin-style diamond motif, adding depth and movement to the pattern.

Scattered throughout the field, you’ll find eight-pointed stars and other intricate tribal motifs, enhancing the rug’s rich symbolism and artistic appeal. The well-organized border frames the piece beautifully, providing balance and structure to this exquisite work of craftsmanship.

In mint condition.

With its high-quality wool, vibrant natural dyes, and intricate design, this Luri rug is a stunning example of nomadic weaving, perfect for collectors and interior enthusiasts alike.

Lurs (or Lors) are an Iranian people living mainly in western and southwestern Iran. There is also a significant population of Lurs in eastern and central parts of Iraq The word Luristan or Lorestan, is attributed to the areas inhabited by the Lurs. The boundaries of Luristan stretch from the eastern Iraqi plains to the west and southwest of Iran. Today, Lorestan is the name of one of the western provinces of Iran. Luristan´s rugged terrain, which still bars easy access from Iraq, favored integrity of style. The Luri wool tends to be soft and shinny.
